Solo parent produces LET top 2

Jenalyn Bartolo Impas, a 42-year-old solo parent from Barangay Curva Miagao, Salvador, Lanao del Norte, never expected her eldest child, Jyra Trixie Marie Valiente Bartolo, to clinch Top 2 in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
Jenalyn raised Jyra Trixie Marie alone before meeting with her long-estranged husband. Today, she raises both Jyra Trixie Marie and her youngest child.
Jenalyn disclosed that Jyra Trixie Marie consistently achieved academic success from elementary school through college. However, life severely tested the family after Jenalyn’s husband left them.
Jenalyn made every effort to feed her children and send them to school during that challenging period.
4Ps eased the burden Jenalyn said the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) eased her burden and kept her children in school.
The regular cash grant allowed Jenalyn to pay school fees, buy food and school supplies, and gave her more time to find other ways to sustain her family.
A farmer at heart, Jenalyn cleaned weeds and planted rice in neighboring fields for a fee. She also maintained a small field for her family’s food security.
After working the rice fields, Jenalyn sold used clothing, locally known as ukay-ukay. Her dedication paved the way for her children’s education. Going beyond the challenge
Jenalyn determined to send Jyra Trixie Marie to college so she could finish a degree and eventually find a stable job.
However, the family exited the 4Ps program at that critical time.
Jenalyn did not lose hope; instead, she continued to find opportunities to provide for her children’s needs.
By God’s grace, the Curva Miagao Barangay Council hired her as the Barangay Treasurer. This position, which she holds until today, gave Jenalyn and her children financial stability despite all their challenges.
Curva Miagao Barangay Captain Merlyn Banticil Baclaan, a former 4Ps beneficiary, disclosed that the council trusts Jenalyn highly because of her active participation in all barangay activities—a value she gained from the Family Development Session.
Captain Baclaan said the achievement brings pride to the village and inspires the local youth to pursue higher education.
Jyra Trixie Marie, a former Tara Basa Tutoring Program Tutor assigned in the interior town of Munai, Lanao del Norte, joins two other successful March 2026 LET passers from her village, adding to the roster of board examination top notchers from the interior town of Salvador, Lanao del Norte.
Jenalyn places all her trust in God’s Divine Providence for her daughter and son. Jyra Trixie Marie has already received several work invitations, an opportunity her mother gratefully attributes to the 4Ps program, national government agencies, local government unit, and the barangay council for assisting her family when they needed help.
